"Overpriced for a modestly upgraded motel room. I don't particularly like motel style rooms with windows on the walkway. Great location on the beach, though. Breakfast food was barely above 2-star motel quality. Resort fee way high for the value."

This 382-room beach hotel has all the makings of a classic family vacation. Direct beach access, a poolside whirlpool, beach volleyball courts, an outdoor fireplace and a playground by the beach give guests plenty of reasons to get outside.

The south-side pool and Rum Runners Bar & Grille completed renovations in late 2018. The grille offers specialty cocktails, craft beers, appetizers and live entertainment; while pools provide the option to soak up rays in a lounge chair or rent a cabana (for an additional fee).

Little ones can occupy themselves on the beachside playground and in the Xbox game room, while furry family members can appreciate the hotel's welcoming pet policy (deposit and documentation required). Lots of shopping and dining options are a five-minute drive away on historic Corey Avenue.

Some rooms offer wet bars without stove tops and some feature balconies with Gulf views. There is a resort fee, which covers Wi-Fi, parking, bicycle usage (based on availability), live entertainment daily, two bottles of water upon check-in and more.

I like that it was close to the beach.

The staff was rude and the rooms were gross. When we arrived to the room there was previous guests dirty underwear in the closet. Obviously the room was not cleaned.

Only patrons in the Compass Grille for dinner. We were wondering what that was about, but soon understood why. Made reservation and indicated anniversary was being celebrated, but obviously reservations were not necessary and there was no acknowledgment of the special occasion. Staff was using a carpet cleaner in the dining room for first 15-20 minutes after we were seated: too noisy, no sensitivity to people trying to enjoy their wine and order their meal. So think other guests have had similar experiences and don't go there. We learned the hard way. Online it indicated there was an early bird, but waitress indicated that was not so. Given a teaspoon to retrieve mussels from a deep pot. Had to ask again and were finally given tongs. Had to "ask" for a sharp knife to cut the duck. Would not recommend the restaurant for dinner. Breakfast buffet was adequate and service (Bailey) good.

Fun resort atmosphere, circa-1974 hotel that has been recently renovated. Great food and bars, BUT the room was never really cool, the engineering dept. struggled with the A/C the whole visit.

Once the resort updates the HVAC system it'll be a terrific place.

It was a very comfortable resort style stay. There is a good amount of things to do and they try very hard to keep the pool area popping with activities. Unfortunately the pool is a bit small for the size of the resort. But with that said the beaches are huge and beautiful. Lots of pillows on the beds and very clean. Staff is phenomenal. Great stay.

Big plus - this place is ON the beach. However, housekeeping was diaappointing and almost knocked this to a 2 star - hairs in tub (not ours) upon arrival, no service day 1, late service day 2, three dirty towels, no coffee replacement on day 3, partial service day 4. Breakfast buffet OK.
