Best Western Plus Samlesbury Hotel is in the village of Samlesbury, with some of Lancashire's "most attractive landscapes" (Lonely Planet) surrounding it.
The Ribble Valley, which is around 10 minutes' drive away and was named in September, 2016, as one of the 15 best places to raise a family in the UK by The Daily Telegraph, has plenty of rambling opportunities. The Ribble Valley Food Trail, for a chance to sample local food and drink, starts 25 minutes' drive away in Clitheroe. Alternatively, Lord of the Rings fans can revel in the Tolkien Trail -- a 5.5-mile circular walking route through countryside that inspired several locations in JRR Tolkien's novel Lord of the Rings. It starts at Hurst Green, around 20 minutes' drive from the hotel.
Pendle Hill in the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is around 35 minutes' drive away. It's famous for its connection with the Pendle witches and is a great spot for panoramic views of the rolling Lancashire hills.
Although Samlesbury is small, there are things to explore on your doorstep. Samlesbury Hall, a medieval stately home with farm animals, art exhibitions and grounds that The AA describes as "beautiful" and "delightful", is less than five minutes' drive from the hotel. The city of Preston is around 10 minutes' drive away.
