Red Bull Crashed Ice 2018: How to Save, Where to Stay

May 24, 2018

Red Bull Crashed Ice is a high profile, high-stakes display of downhill skating adrenaline -- last year, 28,000 fans turned out to watch the fast-paced ice cross world championship in Ottawa.

On March 9-10, Edmonton is the place to be. This year's event will see Canadian competitors Jacqueline Legere and Scott Croxall fight for the win, as well as junior and freestyle skaters trying their luck on the twisty tracks.

Here's our guide to nabbing inexpensive tickets, plus deals on hotels and activities that weekend.

Attending the event

General admission is $5 on Friday and $8 on Saturday, but the $10 weekend pass offers the best value for money. Tickets include access to the vendors' village, the beer garden, and the food trucks and merchandise booths in Louise McKinney Riverfront Park. Tickets are available here.

Where to stay

Our top pick is the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, one of only two CAA 4-Diamond hotels in the city. Frommer's calls it "a real class act," and as a Travelzoo member you can stay for $189 per night, a savings of 30%. Here's a little tip: all room types cost the same, so you may as well treat yourself to the best one available.
