To help you get inspired, here is Travelzoo's Deal Expert Team's own list for 2020.

1. Road-trip through the Maritimes in fall

I've never been east of Montreal. I want to fly to Halifax and hit the road. It's something I've been thinking about for years — eating lobster in New Brunswick fishing villages, stargazing in Kouchibouguac and ferrying from PEI to Cape Breton. I want to hike among the island's hills, painted in fall's red and gold. — Brittney

2. Take a road trip on the Gold Rush Trail

I love learning the history of British Columbia and one element of said history is the gold rush that occurred in the mid-1800s. charts out an itinerary beginning in Lillooet at Mile "0" of the 1860s Cariboo Wagon Road and ends in Barkerville where you can tour the town by stagecoach, take in gold rush theatre and try your hand at panning for gold. — Darren

3. Go to Europe's Christmas markets

Visiting iconic Christmas markets in Europe — Salzburg, Cologne and Prague, to name a few — has been something I have been meaning to do for a while, and 2020 will be the year I finally do it. — Varuni

4. Take a cocktail class

I love hosting parties and mixing cocktails (although I'm terrible at it). I would love to be able to host a party and know exactly what to mix and match to make the perfect craft cocktail! — Sammy

5. Travel further

Since our daughter was born, my husband and I have gone against our grain and have been limiting our flight times and only visiting countries where we know we can get French fries in a pinch. Now that she's a bit older, we have vowed to take her to more exotic, culturally rich destinations. — Mandy

6. Mark a special milestone through a pilgrimage

As part of a special birthday celebration with a dear friend, we are planning to walk the Camino de Santiago. This is Spain's famous pilgrimage for quiet contemplation where one can celebrate the past and prepare for the future journey. — Carolyn

7. Experience slow travel

In my role, travel often means quick “ins and outs” to different destinations. In 2020, I'd like to prioritize extended stays — really taking the time to explore more deeply, and at a more leisurely pace. Plenty of our Canadian offers include incentives for lengthier stays. Five nights on the Sunshine Coast, anyone? — Dana

8. See a concert or a play in every season of 2020

As a child, I loved going to any kind of show that featured song and dance, and was in several choirs and bands all through elementary and high school. But as an adult, live music and theatre seems to have disappeared from my life. My resolution in 2020 is to introduce live music and theatre back into my life — I've always loved that post-show buzz that you get! — Candy

9. Take a trip with my parents

I learn something new every time I speak with my parents. I would love to take a trip with just the two of them. I always go on trips with my friends or my partner and would love to one day treat my parents to a very special adventure to Russia, as that is where my dad's grandparents are from. — Sammy

10. Go anywhere besides a sun destination

Everyone knows I love the sun. This year, I'd like to put a pause on booking anything solely because it has a beach. I'm thinking Ireland, Germany, England ... but southern Italy would be a happy medium. — Amanda I.

11. Take a west coast road trip

Not much beats a classic road trip, and the U.S.'s coastal Highway 101 is one of the best. After making the move to Vancouver, I've been dreaming of loading the car and pointing it south — through Washington, Oregon and California — to visit the seaside towns, explore beaches and watch the landscape unfold along the way. — Dean

12. Go on a trans-Canada road trip

I always have dreamed of exploring Canada by car on the Trans-Canada Highway and driving across this huge and awesome country. I would love to do a sea-to-sea trip and see the whole country, stopping in all of the awesome places along the way. — Matt

13. Learn a new skill

Science suggests that learning new things is the best way to keep your mind sharp. With that in “mind,” I plan to learn a new skill in 2020. Travelzoo has tempting options, from chocolate-making classes to Rosetta Stone language courses. — Susan

14. Discover Toronto east of Yonge Street

I can be a bit of a pretentious west-ender. Living at College and Spadina, it is rare for me to venture past Yonge, the street that divides Toronto in two. This year, I'd like to find myself checking out more restaurants, bars and coffee shops beyond this border, not to mention Queen Street East's newest concert venue, Jasper Dandy. Still can't believe I haven't made it there! — Amanda I.

15. Explore the Serengeti

I have been a fan of Africa and its superb nature since my first trip to Tanzania more than 15 years ago ... I recall arid areas, playing soccer with Maasai warriors in the reserve at dusk and experiencing wildlife nature at its best. I was in South Africa for a safari in 2018 and loved it, too!  I now want to go to the Serengeti to relive that experience. — Sou

16. Explore Western Canada in a motor home

In 2020 I am hoping to explore Western Canada's beautiful destinations in a motor home, with the freedom of not having to plan much. — Mariana

17. Travel to Southeast Asia

After my graduation in May, I would love to take a trip down to Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia to explore the culture and indulge on delicious cuisine. For ages, Bali has always been on my bucket list and I can't wait until the day I can enjoy the clear waters and beautiful beaches. — Sophie

18. See more of Canada

I was born and raised in the GTA, and I can count on one hand the number of Canadian cities I have explored. In 2020, I will get out and explore more Canada. I've especially got my eye on our national parks. I am ready to pull the trigger on the sub-$300 roundtrip flight deals we have been seeing to YVR and YYC. — Lilia

19. Take my grandmother for a surprise pampering day

I'm guilty of not calling my grandmother as often as I should — no more! This woman played an important role in raising me, and I'd like to honour her. In 2020, I will celebrate my grandmother on her birthday by taking her out on a surprise pampering day — her favourite colour is red, so perhaps we'll get her a bright red manicure at a beautiful spa. — Candy

20. Take an adventure through South America

When I'm older, I'd like to be able to say I ventured to all seven continents – including Antarctica. Next on my list, though, is South America, a remarkable, culturally rich area of the world often overlooked by the average traveller. Hiking Machu Picchu in Peru, trying flavourful foods in Guyana, partaking in a football game in Brazil ... these are all experiences I can't wait to have. — Nathan
