The Deal

The beginning of the spring fishing season is here and the California Department of Fish and Game proclaims that "for the first time in many years the forecast suggests anglers may have many a tight line to look forward to." For $45, embark on an all-day deep sea fishing excursion (including rod rental) in Monterey with Randy's Fishing and Whale Watching Trips, regularly $85.

In business for more than 60 years, Randy's will take Travelzoo subscribers into the Pacific to catch their choice of fish; choose between:

• Salmon Fishing Trip: With the season starting right around the corner on April 8, this five- to nine-hour trip offers the chance to catch up to two salmon (departs at 5:30 a.m.)

• Cod Fishing Trip: This excursion lasts four to eight hours and starts May 1, highlighted by the opportunity to catch up to 10 rock cod and 2 lingcod (departs at 6:30 a.m.)

Both trips include rod rental ($10 value). Fishing license, tackle and burlap sack are all required but not included in the price of this deal; they can be rented/purchased at the shop prior to departure.
