A member of the Historic Hotels of America and 1859 Historic Hotels, this hotel is the oldest in continuous operation west of the Mississippi River. Numerous icons of American history have graced the halls, including Ulysses S. Grant, General Robert E. Lee, Oscar Wilde, Annie Oakley and Buffalo Bill Cody. It is even said that Teddy Roosevelt recruited some of the Rough Riders from the Menger Bar.

In addition to antiques and keepsakes left by famous past guests, the hotel also features a full-service spa, an outdoor heated pool and free wireless Internet access for all guests. The restaurant serves traditional fare in the dining room and outside in the garden courtyard when the weather permits.

Each one-bedroom suite has a separate parlor and is uniquely decorated with period furniture. No two are the same, and those in the original section of the hotel feature high ceilings, wooden shutters and some with four-poster beds.
