For $35, get an hourlong hands-on introduction to basic falconry -- a savings of 50% on the regular price. Or, for $69, go on a 90-minute Hawk Walk and search for birds of prey in the wild, regularly $140.

• For $35, go to the Basic Falconry Lesson I class, where you'll get 60 minutes of instruction and history on falconry including learning how to "cast," which entails holding a hawk, casting it from your glove and calling it back again

• Or, for $69, take a 90-minute Hawk Walk, where you'll walk through the Sierra Foothills identifying hawks and falcons in the wild and also spend time "casting"

Vouchers can be redeemed starting Friday, Jan. 4, through April 30, 2013. Phone reservations are required and subject to availability. The venue is closed Wednesdays and Thursdays. Weekends book very quickly so please try to make a reservation well in advance of your desired date. Voucher is subject to forfeiture if you cancel or reschedule your reservation with less than 24 hours'’ notice. Class times are seasonal and will take place in the morning hours. Must be at least 7 years old to participate in the Basic Falconry I Class and at least 9 years old to participate in the Hawk Walk. Observer or non-participant fee is half the cost of the promotional fee. Classes consists of working with live animals and WCF reserves the right to reschedule lessons in circumstances not conducive to the health and well-being of their raptors. This may include, but is not limited to hard rain, extreme heat and high winds. WCF makes no guarantees that clients will be able to book separate classes on the same day, especially on weekends.
