The Deal

For $37, spend a day on the open seas with a fishing trip from Davey's Locker in Newport Beach, rated 4.5 stars by Yahoo users. The excursion, which includes a boarding pass, bait and lunch, normally costs $82 and can venture out as far as Catalina Island, where passengers cast their lines and try to reel in more than 30 varieties of fish.

The ship departs Newport Bay at 7 a.m. and returns at 5 p.m., which provides ample time for people of all skill levels to hunt for white sea bass, striped marlin, barracuda and even 40-pound yellowtail off the coast or at Catalina Island. Guests can bring home their catch. While at sea, enjoy a lunch that includes a choice of a cheeseburger, hamburger or grilled cheese with a bag of chips and nonalcoholic beverage. 

The vessel can hold up to 102 people and is fully equipped with indoor and outdoor seating, a full-service kitchen and restrooms. You can rent fishing rods and tackle packs from Davey's Locker for an additional fee.

Anyone 16 or older must have a fishing license in the state of California. A one-day fishing license costs $16. Fishing rods are available for rent from Davey's Locker for $12.50; tackle packs are $8.65 including tax. This deal is not valid on holidays or holiday weekends.
