The Deal

Catch glimpses of Pacific gray whales in peak migration season with a 2.5-hour whale-watching cruise from Davey's Locker. We've negotiated an exclusive deal for Travelzoo subscribers: $16 for a boarding pass and choice of nonalcoholic drink or beer, regularly $35. 

The annual migration of Pacific gray whales from Alaska south to Baja, California, runs through April. Until then, trips depart from Newport Beach's Balboa Peninsula Monday-Friday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and  9 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. (Beginning in May, trips depart daily at 9 a.m., 12 p.m., 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.)

On the boat, take a seat indoors, on the wraparound outdoor seating or on the second-story sundeck to scout out stunning views of these gray whales, plus other marine wildlife including seals, dolphins and even majestic Orca whales. Just last week, Davey's Locker spotted 40 of these whales, which rarely appear in such numbers off the Southern California coast.

Knowledgeable crew members have backgrounds in marine biology and will point out wildlife along the way. You can also catch breathtaking views of the sunset, coastline and horizon.
