Gayot praises Vito's by the Park, calling it "upscale Italian" that "boasts plenty of finesse." For $39, Travelzoo subscribers can have dinner and drinks for two at this downtown Hartford gem near Bushnell Park.

Sit down to dinner, regularly $94, from a menu OpenTable users give 4 stars and Zagat rates "very good to excellent" (21) and select:

• A sharable appetizer, such as lightly fried calamari with cherry peppers; crab and salmon cakes with spicy aioli; or Italian sausage served with broccoli rabe, fried red tomatoes and pesto (up to $13)

• Two entrees, like swordfish in a radicchio caper parsley emulsion served with potato au gratin; slow-roasted pork with Gorgonzola herb polenta and baby carrots; or seared scallops and shrimps with Parmesan risotto (up to $30)

• Two drinks, such as beer, more than 20 wines by the glass -- including V's Merlot, produced especially for Vito's -- or signature cocktails including the Cosmo by the Park (up to $10.50)
