The Deal

The award-winning Summerset Winery in Indianola grows eight varietals and produces nearly two dozen wines, including Festiva, awarded the best sparkling wine of 2011 at the Mid-American Wine Competition. For $25, regularly $49, two people can explore Summerset Winery with a guided tour including wine samples, a cheese and cracker platter, and a bottle of wine to take home.

With an annual production of 150,000 bottles, Summerset Winery is the state's largest winery and is located approximately 25 minutes south of downtown Des Moines. During the tour, learn about the wine-making process, view the cellar and bottling operation and even explore the vineyards.

With this deal, take home any bottle up to $14, such as the spicy red Frontenac, which won Best of Show at the 2010 Mid-American Wine Competition, or the fruity Kiss Me, a white varietal similar to a Riesling.

Travelzoo Tip: Late summer and early fall is a great time to visit wineries as they are starting to harvest grapes and you'll be able to see the process firsthand. Visit Summerset Winery on Saturdays during harvest season to participate in the festivities.
