The Deal

The Detroit Free Press calls Jim Chamberlin "the man of steelhead" due to his prolific career fishing for trout in the famed "Steelhead Alley" area of Northeast Ohio. With this Local Deal from his company, Fish With Jim Outfitters, Travelzoo subscribers can set off on a guided river fishing trip including gear for $99 (regularly $250) during the height of the season.

Every year, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources stocks numerous Lake Erie tributaries with steelhead trout for the season, which runs September through May. Take advantage with this deal that includes:

• A customized three- to five-mile trip down the river of your choice, such as the Vermilion or Chagrin, in a 13-foot inflatable raft with a guide

• All necessary gear and tackle

• The chance to take home up to two trout (12 inches or larger)

All fishing trips require a valid Ohio fishing license, which can be purchased here and start at $11 for a daily license. This deal can also be used throughout the summer during the smallmouth bass season. Rafts hold up to two people plus the guide.
