The Deal

Bring out your inner artist at PAINT:LAB in Santa Monica, which boasts a 4.5-star average rating on Yelp. For $29 per person, join a two-hour instructed painting workshop including all art supplies plus two complimentary glasses of wine and appetizers. This experience is ideal for both beginners and more experienced artists, and it regularly costs $67.

PAINT:LAB typically schedules about five workshops a month, each with its own theme. (Check the online calendar here.) Use acrylic paint while recreating your own version of masterpieces, such as Vincent Van Gogh's "Sunflowers," as the instructor -- a professional artist and/or teacher -- provides step-by-step instruction.

Paint at one of the 10 easels in the studio, on one of the tabletops or one of 10 easels outside on the patio facing Main Street. During the class, help yourself to the wine and appetizer spread that features a California red and white wine, artisanal cheeses, fresh fruit, crackers, olives and hummus.
