Inspired by the authentic recipes of his grandmother, chef and owner David Garrido has created a menu of contemporary Mexican cuisine that earns a "very good to excellent" (22) rating from Zagat. For $35, regularly $66, two people can savor a three-course dinner at his eponymous restaurant, a "cool Mexican Canteen" that boasts a 4-star rating on Urbanspoon.

Sit outside on the "beautiful creekside patio" (Austin Chronicle) and select:

• An appetizer to share, like the shrimp tostadas with chipotle-horseradish aioli and mango salsa

• Any two entrees, like the steak vaquero in a tomatillo sauce with potato cakes or the chicken enchiladas with habanero cream sauce

• Any dessert to share like the staff favorite pastel de calabaza (zucchini cake) with crema fresca
