The Deal

For $40, regularly $100, embark on a two- to three-hour hike along the Chattahoochee National Forest led by certified naturalists with Appalachian Wilderness Guides in Helen, Ga. Guides will provide history of the land and geological information about your surroundings, including the scenic Dukes Creek Falls.

After your hike, relax at a nearby winery with up to 10 wine tastings and gourmet snacks of local cheeses, nuts and fruit. Potential wineries include Three Sisters Vineyards, Sautee Nacoochee Vineyards and Habersham Winery. Fodor's likens the Helen and Sautee Nacoochee areas to having "stepped into a fairy tale."

Hikes are offered most Saturdays beginning at 10 a.m., but the first three hikes will take place Sunday, April 15, and April 28-29. Hikers will meet at a location in downtown Helen to be disclosed by Appalachian Wilderness Guides.
