Virginia Opera premieres "Orphée" this week in Fairfax, and tickets are now 50% off. Renowned composer Philip Glass scored the opera about love, obsession and desire.

All seats are $22-$49 (regularly $44-$98) for both performances at George Mason University's Center for the Arts:

  • Friday, Feb. 10 at 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m.

About the Opera: Based on Jean Cocteau's 1949 film, the opera follows the famous poet Orphée, who becomes obsessed with a mysterious woman. He decides to leave his wife, Eurydice, and follows the woman to the dark Underworld.
