The majority of the U.S.-based flights into France arrive at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), France’s largest airport and the second-busiest in Europe after London’s Heathrow (LHR). Around 90 airlines offer service to Charles de Gaulle, including domestic fliers American, Continental, Delta, United and US Airways. These airlines provide nonstop flights mostly from East Coast and Midwestern cities that include New York, Philadelphia, Miami, Atlanta, Chicago and Houston.

Salt Lake City is the west-most U.S. city with direct flights on these airlines, but Air France offers nonstop flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco and about a dozen other U.S. cities.

The list of sights to see and activities to enjoy in Paris can leave you overbooked if you want to see and do them all, so it’s important to make a point of slowing yourself down and experiencing the city as the locals do. Drink in the scenery with a leisurely walk along the banks of the Seine, or perhaps take a boat excursion through its waters for an even more relaxed tour of the area. For some of the best people-watching, stroll down Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore, the famous street where many of Paris’ most significant fashion houses are located. Of course, whenever you need a break, you can count on finding a charming café on virtually every corner.

When you’re prepared to take on Paris’ most famous tourist sites, don your most comfortable shoes and head to the Louvre, the largest museum in the world. Though you can easily spend days there, many more architectural majesties await: Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral, Napoleon’s Tomb and, of course, the Eiffel Tower.

Fantastic as the sightseeing is, you’ll also have to find time to dine in a few of the city’s endless gourmet restaurants, enjoy a glass of fine French wine in one of many lively drinking establishments, and perhaps take in a show in Paris’ world-class arts district.
