The Deal
Located in the luxurious AAA/CAA 4-Diamond Rimrock Resort in Banff, Primrose Dining Room offers an "elegant" dining experience, according to Affluent Magazine, along with sweeping views of the Rundle Mountain Range. Two can savour a four-course dinner with sparkling wine at this award-winning resort for $89, regularly $186.
Primrose is headed by executive chef Ralf Wollmann, who fuses seasonal ingredients with his German roots. This meal includes:
First course, one each:
• Fine ripe tomato salad with petit bocconcini over torn spinach, pear balsamic vinaigrette and maple caramelized walnuts
• Caesar salad
Second course, one each:
• Lemongrass tomato bisque
• Basil sour cream drop with rustic cheese croutons
Third course, one each:
• Egg pappardelle with braised elk short ribs, grilled tomato, asparagus and double smoked bacon croutons,
• 10 oz. New York strip loin, charbroiled with crushed black peppercorns and red wine jus
• Bombay almond butter chicken: yoghurt and Indian spiced marinated free-range chicken, seared and slowly cooked in creamy curry sauce with steamed basmati rice and naan bread
Fourth course, to share:
• Classic banana split for two with bourbon vanilla bean ice cream, and dark chocolate sauce with chocolate petit fours
A glass each of rose sekt sparkling wine by Austrian winemaker Weingut Bründlmayer
