Why We Love This Hotel
- The baronial house was originally erected in the 1750s. Owned by the University of Edinburgh, the house reopened in 2022 after a boutique makeover.
- Hotel decor is a "marriage of the traditional and the contemporary" (The Times). "Think original oak-panelled halls with striking modern artworks from Glasgow's Artpistol gallery". And "lipstick-pink chaises longues in high lounges with corniced ceilings".
- The hotel's restaurant, Bonnar's, is set in an elegant dining room complete with fresco and floor-to-ceiling windows. The Velvet Lounge is named for its original red velvet walls. Sink into the blue crushed-velvet armchairs and sample whiskeys, cocktails, and wines from its drinks menu.
- The property is situated just south of Holyrood Park. A hike up to the top of Arthur's Seat is approximately 30 minutes from the hotel's front door.
- Edinburgh Old Town is 30 minutes' walk, or 10 minutes' drive, from the hotel.
