About the hotel
The Harrogate Inn reopened under new ownership after a multimillion-pound refurbishment last year. Amenities at the inn include the Barking George pub, which has a tree-lined terrace and serves a menu of hearty British classics. The chic Montpellier Quarter, which is full of cafés, boutiques, and galleries, is a 5-minute walk, as is Bettys, Harrogate's famous tea rooms. RHS Garden Harlow Carr (one of the Royal Horticultural Society's five public gardens) is on the edge of Harrogate. It's around 30 minutes' walk through the pretty Valley Gardens, which date from Harrogate's heyday as a spa destination.
There is a choice of historic sites on the doorstep. Knaresborough, which has a castle and a picturesque viaduct, is a 15-minute drive away, while Harewood House—which sits in 1000 acres of Capability Brown-designed grounds—is around 20 minutes' drive. You can walk or cycle the Nidderdale Greenway to the pretty village of Ripley to visit Ripley Castle.
