More Reasons to Go

  • The Painted Hall is often referred to as Britain's Sistine Chapel and was painted in the 18th century by James Thornhill, who spent almost 20 years working on its over 40,000 square feet of decoration — it reopened in early 2019 after a 2-year £8.5 million refurbishment
  • The Daily Telegraph calls it "Britain's best example of the painted ceiling", praising the "immensely impressive" and "brilliant" artwork

A little gem! Would definitely recommend taking the guided tour rather than self guided. The guide was very knowledgable and pointed out things you would definitely have missed otherwise.

We saw it first while they were restoring the painted ceiling and the scaffolding was erected, so it was good to see it from ground level

The coffee shop,( had we not have had a voucher) was expensive £2.35 for a doughnut. Gift shops, lots of choice for all budgets, It's worth exploring all parts of the Navel college whilst you are there.

I travelled to Greenwich on the river boat. During the trip we also walked up to the top of Greenwich park. The best view of London!
