Originally a 19th-century manor house, Burnside Hotel is now a 24-room boutique hotel. Guestrooms come with complimentary Wi-Fi, tea- and coffee-making facilities and L’Occitane toiletries.
The AA praises the hotel's "perfect" location in Shakespeare country. The property is five minutes' drive from the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon where you will find Elizabethan buildings like Harvard House, the flagship Royal Shakespeare Theatre, and Holy Trinity Church, the Bard's final resting place.
Anne Hathaway's Cottage is a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
Charlecote Park has been home to the Lucy family for nine centuries. The estate lies between two rivers surrounded by a landscaped deer park, and is less than 20 minutes' drive away.
The hotel is 25 minutes' drive from the edge of the Cotswolds National Landscape.

I have to say that apart from the above, the remainder of the what we experienced was excellent.

We opted to add the 2 course evening meals to our trip, which was the primary disappointment because Travelzoo did not state that that this was a set menu. In the past, a sample set menu has been published. The menu choice was absolutely dreadful and did not suit us at all. What I chose was cooked very poorly to the extent that I could not eat it. Further, you stated that the value of this menu was up to £26.00pp. For just an extra couple of pounds we could have chosen 2 courses from the full menu and received the free bottle of wine. In addition to this, the management were not sympathetic to the concerns we raised.
There was also a language barrier in the restaurant where the main waitress's level of English was not to the standard I would expect. This was apparent when she did not explain properly to us that the published wine list was out of date and that they had run out of some stock.

We found this a very pleasant hotel, just outside of the hurley-burley of central Stratford-upon-Avon, but near enough for easy access.

The Burnside Hotel has a very relaxed, calm atmosphere, which is undoubtedly due to the excellent, attentive staff. Our room was light, clean and comfortable. The dining options on the Travelzoo package were limited but good. Crisp table linen and floral arrangements were welcome. Breakfast was cooked to order and was excellent.

Very nicely furnished and well run hotel on the outskirts of Stratford upon Avon, 30 minutes level stroll away or 5 minutes by car. Great deal on 2 nights DB&B through Travelzoo. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and dinner served by friendly attentive staff. Bedroom (room 11) very comfortable with a well appointed unsuited with large walk-in shower. All good, no negatives for us !

We enjoyed our stay at this Hotel and we were allocated a ground floor room when my husband enquired about disabled parking which I think was a nice touch. The room was lovely and the shower was great! Also the bed was extremely comfortable. The Hotel was spotless but I did think the public rooms that is Bar area were rather austere and not cosy in winter time! The food was excellent value for money and we were really pleased we had chosen to dine there on our second night. The staff were all lovely and nothing was too much trouble, I would certainly recommend this Hotel to friends and family.

Lovely hotel with easy walk into Stratford on Avon town centre. Dinner was lovely, although we did have to wait a long time for it to be served. However it was well worth the wait. The rooms are spacious and very well equipped. The toiletries are made by L’Occitane and the towels are luxurious.
Would def stay again and will recommend to our friends and family.

The parking charge of £5 per night was well advertised but I felt it was unusual to pay extra when the car park is the hotel's own car park.. I feel it would be better to adjust the room charge (if felt necessary) and quote 'Free Parking in hotel car park'. This would stop any further negative comments about the charge on Review Sites and it would become a 'Positive' rather than the opposite.

We stayed at the Burnside Hotel for two nights during the first week of January after a busy Christmas at home. We were only one of two couples staying on the first night and were alone on the second so it was very peaceful. We very much enjoyed walking into Stratford along the excellent footpath. We walked round Shottery which is also interesting although Anne Hathaway's cottage is closed in Winter but we knew that.

the staff were really lovely, polite, professional, helpful and cheerful. The only criticism we could make is that the room we were allocated was NOT one of the rooms advertised on the Travelzoo deal, we were in one of the smaller rooms in an outbuilding in the car park. Although this room was clean and comfortable the deal was showing pictures of the larger rooms within the hotel building so we feel the deal was miss sold.

I would only go back if the travel zoo voucher meal deal was a fixed value or as a full paying guest as the set menu 3 choices of starter, main meal and sweet but only 2 courses included was very limited and I felt under valued as a customer, they did lovely looking curries which were not available on our menu, the same with the fish and chips this was only available 1 night where we had chosen a different meal but when wanted was not available. Food on the menu was expensive as also the wine but as already said very good quality. Also when we checked in there was another couple who they upgraded free of charge. I had paid for an upgrade but when queried was told this was because they had paid the full price. In my eyes the hotel offered the travel zoo offer but we were being penalised for this. Even the rooms on the website did not match what I had paid for. I did explain this to the management but they just said there was a disclaimer on the website. In short we felt the whole experience we would not repeat as we definitely felt we were treated differently to full paying guests. we have done a lot of travel zoo offers and never felt like this before. Execellent travelzoo deal. Newly refurbished hotel. Nicely furnished & equipped room & bathrooms. First class chef & attentive well trained staff. Hotel is about 1.3 miles from Stratford centre along pleasant foot paths. Or economically priced car parking at The central marina car park adjacent to Crowne Plaza Hotel, convenient for town centre & Theatre. Although slightly out of town the Burnside is very competitively priced relative to town centre hotels, even taking into account the £5 car parking charge per 24 hours.
The Travelzoo voucher deal needs to make it clear that the inclusive dinner is 2 courses (starter & main or main & sweet, rather than 3 courses). Even so it represents excellent value for money. Breakfast is simply superb. Served at table, individually cooked, very wide choice; no ghastly dried up buffet Bain Marie’s !!
At dinner , fish & chips is superbly cooked & presented. Home battered & cooked cod and hand cut chips without a trace of fat or oil, delightfully crisp & appetising. Their sea food paella also highly recommended.
We’ve been twice & would readily patronise again.

Lovely hotel, clean, modern but needs attention in areas. Bathroom supplies were not the best for a ‘luxury’ hotel. Also just one pack of 2 biscuits accompanied the tea & coffee supplies. Cooked full English breakfast could be improved upon. Sausage lacked flavour & bacon was pre-cooked & tough. Evening meal was good but poor, slow service due to staff shortages. We only had one course as did not want to wait any longer to be served.

A very well presented hotel which is clean and tastefully decorated throughout with a lot of interesting and original art work. We upgraded to Executive King rooms which cost an extra £20 per night. Although located on a main road there is little traffic noise. The hotel is a quiet and relaxing place to stay (which we like), but the relatively small bar area does lack atmosphere which may not be to everyones liking.
Burnside is an easy 20 minute walk to the centre of Stratford Upon Avon.
All of the staff we encountered were friendly, polite and extremely helpful.
There was plenty of choice for breakfast which was of a good standard. We had dinner from their a la carte menu on our first night which was excellent.

Lovely small hotel, excellent decor, good food and pleasant staff. Room was very pleasant and a good size. Bed was comfy and bathroom well equipped. Nice quiet location in village of Shottery, a short car ride from Stratford.

Potential customers need to be aware there is no lift to the upper floor bedrooms, so may not be suitable for those with limited walking ability.
