My friend + I wanted to explore the area, especially the castles, + it was perfectly located.
We wanted a twin room so we were in the basement. No views but we were only in the room to sleep so it wasn't crucial.
The food was excellent + the staff were marvellous. Nothing was too much trouble! Lots of lovely memories made. A great deal!

This should have been a real treat. It is very expensive even with the Travelzoo deal. It wasn't really. The hotel is tired and the facilities do not warrant the price tag.

Beautiful building in stunning location with wonderful views. Hotel tired and needs some refurbishment. Wouldn't take a lot to bring hotel up-to-scratch.

Food good. Alcohol expensive. Bottled beer out-of-date. Wine glasses dirty. At breakfast waitress left dirty dishes/cafetieres/glasses on table. Bedroom (room 12) disappointing. Very small, nowhere to sit except on the bed. Bathroom door dirty. Bin rusted.

Check in was very simple and welcoming and we were escorted to our room. Room on first impression was very nice and quiet, our main criticism was that the room was cool even though the TSV on the radiator was on max setting of 5. The radiator was warm but not hot I did mention this to reception the next morning. The dinner was various choices off a 3 course set menu at £35. The food was good. Aspects of service on our first night were so-so, waiting for a member of staff to appear to check us in and seat us and then not being presented with a bill at the end to sign off on. Which did lead to an error on our bill at check out. The hotel was peaceful, quiet and relaxing and has been somewhere my wife and I wanted stay at and experience.
