Why We Love It

  • The Oxwich Bay Hotel complex has views over Oxwich Bay beach and is an ideal base from which to explore the Gower Peninsula -- the UK's first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • You can choose between a Hotel Standard Room, a Cottage Standard Double Room, a Static Home or a Secret Garden Pod
  • Cottages are dog friendly and are just 200 yards from the beach. Secret Garden rooms are modern, self-contained units in the hotel's secret garden -- each has its own entrance, a private patio area and a pull-down bed. Static Homes are in a private meadow, 100 yards from the hotel and opposite the beach -- they're dog friendly and come with a kitchenette and central heating
  • Oxwich Bay beach, a large stretch of sandy beach and a national nature reserve, is right on the doorstep
  • You can take an "exhilarating" (The AA) walk along the "delightful" coastline to Oxwich Point
  • Oxwich Castle, a ruinous 16th-century fortified mansion set above Oxwich Bay, is less than 15 minutes' walk from the hotel
  • Tor Bay -- a sandy, horseshoe-shaped beach lined with rugged cliffs -- is around 10 minutes' drive away
Parking is free. The nearest railway station is at Swansea, a 40-minute drive away.

One of the best dog friendly hotels we have stayed at. Just wish they had a snug/bar area with the 6 nations on.

The Travel Zoo deal made our stay great value for money. We loved the location and our room was warm, clean and comfortable. Our only complaints were with the restaurant service. The staff were friendly but service was slow and we had to remind them on several occasions. First, they brought the wrong wine (wrong colour) which we sent straight back but then had to remind them we were still waiting after about 15 minutes. We ordered dessert but after waiting 30 minutes had to remind them again. Etc etc etc. After getting the bill, no one came to take our money and in the end we had to go and find someone to pay!

However, there was one small unfortunate anomaly. On leaving, I was presented with a bill for 'luxury upgrade'. Unfortunate because I hadn't requested it, hadn't been told about it, and it happened in front of other guests who were leaving at the same time. It was a misunderstanding that caused me some embarrassment (in front of others) but I have to say that despite this the Hotel were very good in how they dealt with it (once they had presented me with the bill) and within a few minutes and a couple of hasty phone calls they waived the bill as I had no prior knowledge of being told this would happen. So it was embarrassing, but they dealt with it well, exactly how they should. And absolutely in keeping with the rest of our stay which was excellent.

Very good stay with immaculate rooms and a lovely breakfast. Would definitely recommend it and would like to go back. We returned as we got married there 16 years ago and it didn’t disappoint.
