Stunning views, lovely comfortable room, excellent staff, lovely food

Although the food was lovely i think vegetables should be included and not charged as an extra, but a very minor point on what was an excellent hotel

The views were amazing. Just like stepping back in time but wonderfully relaxing. The waiting staff were almost as old as the building - in the nicest possible way which added to the ambience of the building. The food was wonderful and beautifully present

We did have a problem with the bathroom door - it would not shut. We managed to overcome that by having to sing songs relating to water whilst doing our ablutions which made the whole time exceedingly funny.

The location and view were stunning even in the rain and we enjoyed the walking trails nearby. The staff were friendly and helpful. The general feel was relaxed. The prosecco and chocs were a nice touch. They made my dog welcome. I used the Spa for treatments and thoroughly enjoyed the pampering.

Great offer. Good value for the experience we had. We enjoyed the deal and it was good value for the price - I wouldn't have been pleased if we had paid full price. As it was a gourmet break I will comment on the food: The main course duck was tough and my husband had to leave it on the side, They served me with an incorrect meal on the first night, but were graciously apologetic. This morning there was no smoked salmon for the 'Eggs Royale' (scrambled eggs with S Salmon). The hotel is tired, and some things definitely require attention to bring it up to standard. All in all we did have a good time and a relaxing break. I would only recommend this hotel with some reservation. PS - Do check your bill - we had someone else' wine charged to us.

Wonderful location looking up the lake - rear views nice but go for a lake view upgrade at £25. Isolated location but plenty of walking exploring to do. Did not use spa.

Yes it could have been a totally lovely stay - the location was beautiful with loads to do outdoors. The upgrade was lovely, a huge room with the lake view. The meal was delicious, scallops and sea bass though the vegetables ordered belonged to another menu choice as if they had run out but didn't say. The manager listened well but would not accept any problem with the food but what else caused a broken night and vomiting?

the room was a disabled one without a bath and unattractive. The staff did kindly upgrade us to a lovely room but began by asking us for a further charge. None of this felt very welcoming. Prosecco and chocolates were served in the bar as part of the deal but limited to between 4 -6pm, not our usual bar time ...strange timing in relation to a nice meal..maybe during and after? in the night I was sick - cannot remember the last time I was, years ago, being healthy and not a picky eater. My conclusion was that if not food poisoning that the menu was just too rich- there was no light healthy dessert option. We were supposed to have vouchers for the spa but we never saw them . The meals both morning and evening involved half hour waits before any food arrived with no apology
