We went last year on a Travelzoo offer and it was outstanding in all respects. Sadly this time it did not live up to expectations. This year we were handed a 'special' TZ menu, whereas last year we were given the regular menu which was far superior. The table wasn't wiped down and still had the last person's mess on it. It's a false economy because I've recommended this pub to lots of people but I won't be in the future.

An abundance of flowers adorns the pub's exterior, The inside is welcoming with well-spaced tables. The staff are extra attentive and eager to ensure that your visit is all it should be and more, something I have found across all the Brucon pubs I have visited.

A very pleasant early lunch on a. Friday . The Star was quieter than on previous visits , which reflects my lower score. Menu choice was good and Food nicely presented etc, I felt my fish was not quite hot enough in main and a warmdesert,

Good food cheerful service. Of the four of us the others were delighted with their meals, but I was, perhaps unlucky, going for the bream, which was small, served up with some dull potatoes and come undercooked broccoli. The sauce was nice, however.

The staff and food that was available was lovely but the service or rather lack of it has put us off returning!

We were very grateful that The Star extended the vouchers we had purchased but were unable to use by the original expiry date due to a loss in the family!
However the availability of food and the slow service on the night we visited rather marred our experience we were seated at 7pm and didn’t leave the pub until 10.25 we waited nearly half an hour just to get the bill and the rest of our service during the evening was equally as slow!

The whole meal experience from start to finish was excellent. Although we live a mere 3 or 4 miles away from the Star we’d never been there before. We’ll definitely be back. The service was good, and we neither felt rushed nor forgotten. The food was cooked to perfection, and attractively served. It was a very well thought out and balanced menu. I’d like to go back again in the not too distant future.

One suggestion for this restaurant, and many others, please consider laying on some low carb, low sugar recipes. Vegan, vegetarian, & gluten free recipes are commonly in use everywhere now. Please consider those of us on Dr recommended low carb diets are not often catered for. Thank you.

I treated my friend for her 80th birthday. At dessert time, the restaurant gave her a plate with a small cake & "Hapy bithday" written in chocolateon it. She was very pleased! Vert good food and a polite service.
Would recommend. Not a local place for us, but it was worth the drive.

We arrived a bit early, hoping to sit outside and enjoy a drink first, but the weather had other ideas. We were invited to go straight to our table instead and relaxed there with our free glasses of prosecco. We were not rushed into ordering, and it was all gently paced. Once we had ordered, the courses were well spaced and all were delicious. We had a great time and we will be going back to the Star again.

The Star was very busy when we visited, but the staff coped very well , in a very friendly way. All the staff were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. This all made the experience a very enjoyable one. The lunch deal we went on was great value for money.
