Lovely location. Good breakfast. Beautiful in the original part however we were in a room in the extension. The room 125 was small, quite dark, a dismal outlook, the bath and wash basin had horrible stains in the porcelain and the room needed a complete redecoration as there was lots of chipped paintwork.

We enjoyed our two night stay here. The parkland setting overlooked by the terrace was great and the staff were lovely. We stayed in a basic double room which was well set out with all the amenities needed. We were however disappointed with the limited food offer.
Other Comments
Our room had air conditioning, a good sized TV, was well lit and had power points in all the right places. The en-suite bath/shower had an excellent supply of instant hot water.
The breakfast buffet was very good, but the restaurant menu for lunch and dinner was limited for choice, as was the wine list. The food was cooked adequately but pretty bland. A great shame.

A fabulous location, literally if you want to "get away from it all" just arrive, lock up your car and enjoy this place. Our only negative was the room, a bit on the small side meaning getting into bed on one side was tight (to the wall), otherwise an excellent 2 day break. Pleasant staff too!.

The Stanton House Hotel is a beautifully converted manor house situated next to the 64 acre Stanton Park. There is ample parking. The staff have all been helpful and attentive. The restaurant has a good choice of meals all at reasonable prices. The bed rooms are comfortable and well provided for with tea/coffee, biscuits, bottled water and free view tv although some of the furniture looks a bit tired. It is well situated to explore some amazing scenery and heritage sites. Unfortunately the plastic flowers in the garden/planters spoil the overall ambiance.

Disappointed with room size. Would have to pay for upgrade.
Wanted to eat outside as its been very hot and outside looks over a lake and is quite lovely but they would only serve drinks and not meals or snacks only in the restaurant can you eat your evening food. So we didnt bother but would.have been nice to have a few snacks with a beer overlooking the park. Also, if they did this rattan sets with cushions would be ideal instead of wooden table and chairs. Think they are missing a trick.

We had booked a 2 night travelzoo stay with cream tea and breakfast and upgraded our room. We were very happy with the room it was on the 3rd floor with beautiful views of the garden and cedar trees, and a lovely size well worth the extra £20 a night. All the staff were friendly and created a lovely atmosphere. We were also both impressed with how clean everywhere was. Food wise our cream tea was lovely, breakfast was a buffet with plenty of choice, we had dinner in the restaurant one of the evenings and again the food was lovely. We both said we would go back there again, we had a lovely couple of days break and went home feeling totally relaxed. The only negative thing was ( and this is us nit picking) at the main entrance and outside the conservatory the cheap looking artificial plants they let the hotel which is a beautiful building down I'm sure they could maintain a few pots of real plants.

A two night stay was booked as a Christmas gift for me and my husband. We upgraded our room to the deluxe double for an extra charge, but it was really worth it. Hotel set in stunning location, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was stunning and we ate in the restaurant on the Saturday night and the food was lovely. Really relaxing time away.

Set in a magnificent setting, this beautiful building, next to a lake & parklands, offers a compact, clean, warm room with en-suite. All staff are friendly and helpful , really good value for money. Close to Swindon & Cirencester. Only downside, menu limited & not changed since September & no Sunday carvery either time we visited although advertised as every Sunday. Cream tea excellent, afternoon tea looked superb.

First impression was we thought it was a care home !!
Check in took ages, nobody available.
We paid an extra £15 per night for a ‘superior’ room and under no circumstances could the room we were allocated could be termed superior. The bed was a standard double, the bathroom was antiquated, the wardrobe had a makeshift lock, one could boil the kettle or watch television due to only one socket available, overall far less than satisfactory. The housekeeper showed me three other rooms but none were up to standard. We decided to stay due to the inclement weather.
We checked out the next morning . We explained our early departure to reception.
A complete waste of time, energy and money.

The room was the size of a single bed. No room for us to move around. We were in the new extension. Not the main house. The entrance was not as per the advertised photo. The room was cold because the radiators were switched off. It took the rest of the evening and night to warm up. We complained to reception and they just turned on the radiators. The conservatory for the afternoon tea was cold. The dining room for the dinner was cold. Not sufficient heating.

Generally a comfortable hotel in a beautiful setting. We were a little disappointed that the restaurant didn’t feel very cosy, especially at breakfast. The breakfast was entirely self service which we understand, but the hot drinks could have been served at the table instead of from a machine.
Other Comments
We thought that the hotel used plastic flowers and plants too much, especially when there are flowers in the garden. We would have liked to have a drink in the bar before our evening meal and a coffee afterwards. No service or heating in the bar at that time.

The hotel is in lovely surroundings but far from any town or village and not much to do there. You'll need a car to go further afield to find some entertainment.

The breakfast was chaotic. It was a help yourself buffet but they were constantly running out of different things and queues were forming. When they topped up the food the newly cooked food was put on top of the old therefore everything underneath was getting cold. Although breakfast is until 10am if you came down at 9.30 there was not much left and it was cold. I was told they wouldn't be topping up as breakfast was nearly finished. There was 1 slice of bacon and 2 sausages left for two of us. The room was very small, we had to squeeze past each other to go to the bathroom. The bathroom however, was almost as big as the room! A nice shower and it was all very clean.

The extractor fan in our room wasn’t working. We reported it to reception who confirmed that it wasn’t working and that one had been ordered. We kept the window open as the room felt as if it needed airing but if the extractor fan isn’t working then moisture is being held in the rooms.
