More Reasons to Go
- The Ragged Cot Inn dates from the 17th century. It has a fascinating history filled with highwaymen and intrigue.
- The restaurant has received an AA Rosette for culinary excellence. Expect "comfort and home-cooked meals at this cosy traditional inn” (The AA).
- The inn sits just outside the ancient market town of Minchinhampton. The pretty Cotswolds towns of Tetbury, Cirencester, and Stroud are all within 20 minutes’ drive.
- Painswick Rococo Garden is full of fun architectural features and flowering vegetation in spring. It’s under 25 minutes away by car.

Location is a little out of the village so you do need a car when staying there.

Nice rural pub, very friendly staff. Food and drink very good. Room okay but bathroom ridiculously small with hot radiator (too big for space, making it impossible to sit on the toilet straight!) also basin plug jammed. Needs some tic, decor wise. Plenty of parking space.
Other Comments
The pub lacks atmosphere, awful decor in bar areas (French bistro chairs & lime cushions, totally in congress with lovely pub stone walls & fireplaces), not cozy. Load of outside seating, making it a good summer pub.

We had a really enjoyable stay for two nights at the Ragged Cot. The hotel itself was lovely, the food was of a high standard and the staff were great. Our room (no.6) was clean, comfortable and well-appointed. Our bed was super comfortable, quiet and the en-suite was modern and spotlessly clean. We would recommend the Ragged Cot without hesitation.

A special mention for Lazlo, a helpful, friendly and professional host who provided a top-class service with a smile!

Food was amazing both lunch and breakfast but atmosphere in restaurant not very cosy . The room was a disappointment- it was stuffy with no way of cooling the room unless you opened the windows onto the back of the kitchen area . There was no view and it was quite dark . The hotel needs to address the privacy issue in the room because people going in and out of the kitchen could see straight into the room - there were only curtains not blinds or frosted glass . The bar area was pretty soulless the fire had died out in the afternoon and in the evening no one was in there so we stayed in our room .

Picturesque historical coaching inn but just felt like the staff weren’t quite on point and the room we stayed in ( ground floor ) was a disappointment
