Why We Love It

  • This deal includes £30-per-person dinner credit to spend in the AA-Rosette-awarded restaurant, which uses locally caught fish
  • Brixham is a hillside fishing town with a working harbour surrounded by colourful homes. It has plenty of pubs and cafés where you can watch the world go by, and there is also a replica of Francis Drake's Golden Hind in the harbour
  • The Blue Flag Breakwater Beach is less than 10 minutes' walk from the hotel
  • The hotel is less than 10 minutes' drive from Berry Head National Nature Reserve --  you can walk a coastal path, observe the wildlife, or learn about local geology in the English Riviera Global Geopark
  • Agatha Christie's Greenway House, now a National Trust property, is a 20-minute drive away. From there, you can get a ferry across to the picturesque village of Dittisham on the Dart Estuary
  • See all our Christmas gift deals
The hotel's private car park is five minutes' walk away up a steep hill. It's best to drop your luggage off before you park. Paignton railway station is around 15 minutes' drive away.

This is a very old, quirky establishment. On arrival there are no frills. It comprises converted fishermens cottages and there is a myriad of narrow staircases, which can confusing. Obviously we got used to it! Breakfast and evening meal were very good and the staff charming.

We were lucky enough to receive a room upgrade with amazing harbour views although the bathroom could do with a spruce up.
