Excellent stay, staff are so pleasant friendly and so willing to help when making enquiries. Room was clean and comfortable, lovely bathroom although a strange small sink, otherwise perfect. Bed was comfortable and clean, hard to fault this hotel.

The hotel is situated in a lovely position. we stayed 2 nights & paid for a sea view. our room was very clean & comfortable. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in a hotel. We had our evening meal there which we enjoyed. The staff were so friendly & nothing was too much trouble for them. Look forward to visiting the Kingscliff again.

Restaurant were friendly and the ambiance was good. I think that regular paying guests with rooms overlooking the sea would be extremely happy.

As Travelzoo guests we were allocated a room in what is basically an add on shed at the back of the hotel overlooking the carpark. The back and forth of rattling waste trolleys and the attending recycling lorry wakened us at 6.00 am.
Unfortunately the restaurant appeared to suffer shortages from the menu. "Sorry the mussles are off". Ok I'll have the skate. ... "Sorry that's off too"
This is a seaside location!

Very pleasant surprise, everything was very good, a couple of blips, running out of orange juice at breakfast, due to late delivery. The other blip was our room card kept going wrong, but it was sorted.

We were very pleased to get the dates we needed, for a family get together in Frinton-on-Sea (10 mins car drive away). Booking was simple...having received the voucher from 'Travelzoo' I phoned the hotel & it was booked straight away.
The bed was comfortable, lovely crisp, clean, white bedding & fluffy white towels. Big walk-in shower with choice of 'rain' shower head or normal one.
The only gripes we had were:- After checking in, we had to take our belongings (bags, etc) through the bar, where people were sitting eating/drinking. Felt a bit uncomfortable doing this. We thought there should be a separate entrance for guests staying, or maybe just don't put tables so near to the guest stairway? Also, as with a lot of othet hotels we've stayed at, there were no bottles of water in tge guest rooms. I just think it's a nice touch, plus the water in the bathroom taps very often isn't suitable for drinking. The breakfast was adequate, although not much choice of cereals...Cornflakes, Coco Pops or All-Bran! Plenty of fresh fruit, yoghurts, bread for toasting (but no butter! Had to ask every time we wanted some. Again, we thought there should be some small individual packets of butter, as per jams & marmalades.

The beach is vast, but the coast is featureless. No busses pass so you have to drive to find any life. The hotel has its own life and events, but for us it is too far away from other bars and cafes, but would suit any one who mostly just wanted to walk the beach, as long as they didn't want to eat or drink anything along the way.

Staff very accommodating and helpful. We asked for a room with a bigger bed, which they went out of their way to do, albeit we agreed to pay for an upgrade. When the food wasn’t good enough in the restaurant, the cost of that meal was taken off the bill without having to ask, in spite of him being rushed and busy.
Other Comments
Very short staffed, especially in the restaurant/bar area. Didn’t encourage us to use housekeeping service, siting eco reasons.

Although the staff were very friendly there was not enough of them. The wait for our evening meal was over an hour and even then they got the meal wrong . As regards breakfast they kept running out of things. . The shower was not working properly in our room. All in all a bit of a disappointment which was a shame . Better management could make this a nice hotel

Reception Bar Staff always behind scenes chatting I had to go looking for service. Meal service very slow. Some staff very surly others very pleasant and helpful.
First evening both our meal’s were delicious well cooked presented good service.
Second evening had to wait almost 50 minutes ( they weren’t very busy. ) most disappointed with our meals. My pasta was swimming in oil and burnt onions couldn’t eat it. My husband had steak very tough again couldn’t eat it.
When the waitress asked had we enjoyed it we told her. She didn’t response. !
Breakfast I only had croissant, my husband toast. There were flasks of hot water to self serve tea / coffee not good. I asked for flat white and told I would be charged £3:10 not acceptable. Especially when I wasn’t eating full breakfast. However manager did agree to me having one without charge. Thank you.

They provided us with a family room when complained about the original allocated room where located right next to the boiler room. It’s a pity there was no bath tub but only a shower with less pressure.

The only thing I felt was a bit of a problem the fact that there were no coasters in the room to put a glass on and this was a bit of a problem as it could potentially ruin the wood

We arrived on a Sunday. My fault I had only printed off one form, we had booked two, I had paid when booking but because I didn't have 2nd form with pin number I had to pay again. When I phoned Travelzoo Monday morning they immediately sorted it out for me and arranged for a refund. 5 stars to Travelzoo for their action and help.

Stayed for two nights. We upgraded to a sea view room which had a lovely view with very large bed. Bathroom was rather small with no bath. Room was very clean but a little tired looking. Large free car park at back of hotel & great location on the seafront. Large bar area with loads of seating although it can get very busy & noisy at times. Staff were all very friendly although service could be a little slow. The only real disappointment was the breakfast, the cooked breakfast was fine but spoiled by cheap bread & pastries & concentrated juice on continental buffet. Overall good value for money based on what we paid.
