"The Seaview hotel is like a Tardis. It is astounding how much bigger it is inside than the outside suggests. The hotel was clean everywhere. the room was great. The bar was friendly with locals and Travelzoo-ers too. Service/food/everything was perfect."

Why We Love It

  • Seaview is notable for its quaint streets, lined with Victorian buildings, and its panoramic views across the Solent; The AA describes sitting on the terrace outside The Seaview Hotel and taking in the views as "one of life's great pleasures"
  • You can sample a wide selection of ales in the hotel's nautical-themed bar, The Pump Room, while browsing one of the biggest private collections of naval memorabilia on the island — The AA calls it "a hidden gem... perfect for ladies who lunch, old friends spinning yarns, or families chilling out"
  • The hotel has a 2-AA-Rosette restaurant where "tip-top ingredients speak for themselves"
  • Hersey Nature Reserve, a bird-watching hotspot, is a 10-minute walk from the hotel
  • Seaview Duver beach, for views across the Solent and the English Channel, is around 10 minutes' walk away
  • The Isle of Wight is known to have a slightly milder and sunnier climate than the rest of the UK
Parking is free but limited. Ryde, for ferries to Portsmouth, is 10 minutes' drive away.

Excellent food and great location

Although good value for money the hotel did not honour the 20% discount on food taken at the hotel as stated on the Travelzoo voucher. The reason given was the original offer was for an out of season stay and no longer applied to the revised reservation. This took the edge off an otherwise enjoyable stay.

Very few rooms actually have a sea view.

We loved it. Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short due to CV19. Will definitely go back.

Parking in the local road was easy at this time of year. Hotel was good with the busy bar filled with hoteliers and locals. The food in the restaurant was very good, but we would have like a menu change during our 4 night stay. Breakfast always good with very slick service.

Nice hotel but a bit dated but it was clean and tidy and the service was good.

The room we had booked now had scaffolding in front so we were offered and accepted a room on the second floor - with better view. Sunday evenings meal was so-so, as the main restaurant was closed and only bar food was available - and not particularly well cooked. Monday night in the restaurant was much better. The charges for drinks in the bar were variable - between £5.13 and £7.20 for basically the same drinks.
Other Comments
Location of the hotel and the rooms, having been redecorated could not be faulted. Car park rather tight to get in and out.
