  • Barrow Hill Roundhouse Railway Centre is home to the UK's last operational railway turntable. Also housing a museum, the centre is five minutes' drive from the property. It's open at weekends throughout summer.
  • The Devonshire Arms Middle Handley is an AA 5-star inn. It has Rosette-awarded dining and seven bedrooms.

  • A multitude of scenic walking routes and pretty villages are on offer in the Peak District. Chatsworth House is around 30 minutes' drive away, while Bakewell is 35 minutes away.
  • Eyam, the Peak District's famous "plague village", is half an hour's drive. Its museum tells how the village isolated itself to prevent the spread of plague in 1665.
