More Reasons to Go
- Beatrix Potter used to holiday here. She finished her illustrations of Timmy Tiptoes and Pigling Bland during stays in 1911 and 1913. In 1915 she bought the house for her mother. Look out for the original photos that hang in reception.
- With three sitting rooms and a bar-lounge, "guests can always find a quiet corner" (The Daily Telegraph). The interior decor is lush and eye-catching. Expect deep-hued walls, multi-coloured velvet chairs, and carpets with vivid motifs of birds and butterflies.
- Bowness-on-Windermere is a 5-minute drive from the hotel. Depart on a lake cruise or visit The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction.
- There are lots of fascinating museums nearby. Blackwell Arts & Crafts House is five minutes' drive away. So too, the Windermere Jetty Museum. Drive past Windermere's southern tip for the Lakeland Motor Museum (15 minutes away). Or head 30 minutes' north for Wordsworth Grasmere and Dove Cottage, the home of Romantic poet William Wordsworth.
- Holehird Gardens is an award-winning RHS Partner Garden that's also featured on BBC Gardener's World. It’s less than 15 minutes' drive from the hotel. The 10-acre fellside garden is open year-round and has views over Lake Windermere.
- Stuck for Christmas gift ideas? Give a dining, spa, activity, theatre, or hotel experience, and create a memory.

Lindeth Howe is a delight. It has been refurbished throughout in a quirky, very stylish manner whilst still retaining the character of the hotel and its links with Beatrix Potter. Our room was spacious with fantastic views of Lake Windermere. The staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and welcoming.

Comfortable and welcoming. Excellent dinning, albeit it a strange selection and pricing.

Could not fault. Bonus was the house belonged to the Potter family, if you are a fan of Beatrix’s books. We visited Hill Top which tied it all together.

Lovely hotel just outside Bowness. very quirky decor and great food. The only drawback was that there were only two couples at dinner so not much atmosphere. Will be going back.
