"We got a complimentary upgrade and have to say our stay from the beginning to the end was exceptional. We were there to celebrate a 40th birthday and they went above and beyond to make it special for us. The grounds are beautiful, as is the food. Thank you!"

More Reasons to Go

  • During your stay, why not also indulge in an afternoon tea for two with this £29 Travelzoo deal?
  • Tucked away in the Cheshire countryside, Nunsmere Hall has a "lovely lakeside setting" (The Daily Telegraph). Inside the Edwardian house are grand reception rooms "with chandeliers hanging from high, decoratively plastered ceilings, and thick floral fabrics on chairs and curtains".
  • The Crystal Restaurant at Nunsmere Hall has twice been voted country restaurant of the year by The Good Food Guide.
  • Delamere Forest is the largest area of woodland in the county, with plenty of peaceful walking trails. It is 10 minutes' drive from the hotel.
  • Only 15 minutes' drive from the hotel and sitting atop a rocky crag are the Medieval ruins of Beeston Castle. On a clear day from here, you can see all the way from the Pennines to the Welsh mountains. The English Heritage Site delves into 4000 years of history, has a replica Bronze Age roundhouse, and 40 acres of woodland.
  • Chester is 30 minutes' drive away. The city's walls are among some of the most ancient and complete in Britain and The Rows—half-timbered galleries with independent shops and boutiques—are a great place to indulge in some retail therapy.

Brilliant. My only criticism would be the bed was too soft and not comfortable.

Rooms were generous in size but it is an old building although they are trying to keep it maintained. It has around 36 rooms and there is limited dining spaces so be sure to book early. At the time of booking, we were asked about dining but not told that we had to book a breakfast sitting. We were left with 7.30 or 7.45am which was not ideal for a lie in. Although they had spaces when we left breakfast, leads me to think they can only cope with certain numbers at a time. The hotel has character but staff seems to be inexperience and needs refining.

A staff member opened our bedroom door at 1.15am to allow another guest in by mistake. This obviously shocked my wife and myself. We were offered only a sorry in the morning, this should never happen.

I appreciate everyone hasto learn but we thought the receptionist was way out of her depth. Everyone except I thought the food was good. I thought my steak was one of the worst i have ever had and the garlic butter was inedible. The restaurant menu was very limited and I would definitely go for the bar menu if I ever went again

Lovely 2-night stay. Upgraded to a junior suite, which was lovely. Some things in the room were a little bit tired, but that did not detract from our stay at all. VERY comfortable bed. LOADS of hot water. Great breakfast. Also stayed for dinner which was really good!
