It's a pleasure to stay at Scafell Hotel where the service is Always a pleasure staying at Scafell Hotel. The restaurant food, once again, was excellent as was the service. The 2 AA Rosette dining experience made the stay memorable. Nick did a very good job in the restaurant as did the waitresses, all very attentive and professional. Breakfasts were prepared to a high standard and there was a wonderful choice of cooked and continental style food to enjoy. The Riverside Bar attached to the hotel was equally a setting to enjoy. There was a roaring fire, great drinks choice and the food was excellent coming from from the same kitchen as the 2 AA Rosette menu. This was another memorable experience at this lovely little hotel.

Room not very big but tastefully decorated and nice bathroom. Would have preferred a king size bed to the double which we had on other occasions.

Breakfast was excellent and quality of food very good and well presented. Dinner again food Quality good but much preferred my fish e we it’s potatoes and vegetables to be served on a rice pudding. This seemed to be the theme With dinner. It would be nice to have a traditional option which they didn’t have. The riverside bar served good pub food .

Food was great and staff were helpful. Would have been better to have more flexibility on which night the included dinner was taken (although this was stated in the T&C on booking with Travelzoo, and by the hotel on confirming the date, but traffic delays meant we arrived at the hotel minutes before the kitchen closed - they served us, but we felt it would have been more relaxed for everyone if we could have delayed the restaurant meal to the second night)

Staff were very pleasant but not always sure. Meals in the style of haute cuisine served by waitresses thank were not silver service trained. Dirty milk jug returned met with surprise rather than apology. Few people dining. Three extra/surplus cruet items on the table moved to one side rather than totally removed from table. Told loudly in a lounge what we were "allowed" to have on the menu unless we wished to upgrade. Marginally better room obtained by paying a further supplement. Room was clean and adequate but furniture was old and battered. Metal work on bedhead etc. was rusty. Residents garden area was unkempt.
