More Reasons to Go
- Newburgh House sits beside a large pond and country estate. It's situated just outside the quaint North Yorkshire village of Coxwold.
- Make the most of the warm summer weather in the property's traditional walled garden. This is the setting for those that opt for the barbeque set. The hotel's hosts will light the barbeque and set the gazebo. Members can cook burgers, sausages, and marinated chicken drumsticks at their leisure. Hampers also include bread, cheese, salads, sauces, strawberries and cream, and four bottles of beer.
- Alternatively, tuck into an antipasti sharing board in the garden or guest lounge. Indulge in cured meats, cheeses, crudites, marinated olives, homemade breads, crackers, and a bottle of red wine.
- Located in the Howardian Hills National Landscape, there are plenty of countryside walks to enjoy. Yearsley Woods is less than a 10-minute drive away.
- Byland Abbey, Rievaulx Abbey, and Helmsley Castle are within 25 minutes' drive from the hotel. So too is the stately home of Castle Howard.
- The city of York—packed with history and must-see attractions—is 35 minutes' drive away. Visit York Minster, the National Railway Museum, and Jorvik Viking Centre.

Gorgeous area and building but inside very tired and worn. Understand it's very old but dangerous carpet on the stairs and bathroom had lots of mold. Breakfast great

A house with lots of character in a fairly remote setting. We were allocated the Pink room which was more like a suite with two armchairs bath and shower. Host was very friendly and the breakfasts were excellent. Plenty of tea, coffee and fresh milk. Pub in nearest village served excellent evening meals

We received a warm welcome on a cold day. Our room was nice and big but the bathroom was looking very tired and in need of a refit. Bath and sink had been re-painted ! Heating was barely adequate in the room and breakfast room was freezing . Our bed was rather old and uncomfortable but had a warm duvet and nice pillows

Great host and a lovely location but the bedroom and bathroom were freezing, the radiators either needed a good flush out or replacing as did the mattress which was like sleeping on a plank of wood. The hotel looks tired here and there and our room definitely need some attention. it's a shame when you have such a lovely host but the comfort of your stay is let down.

Ryan was brilliant and I don't know how he does it all on his own but that sometimes showed at breakfast when the food could have been warmer but it was all beautifully cooked and tasty.

Great location close to the village. Ryan and Andy very good shots. Delicious breakfast and the charcuterie platter was fantastic and came with a delicious bottle of Malbec.
