For less than £15 per person, you can now get a 2-course meal for two at The Bay Horse Inn in the North Yorkshire village of Goldsborough. Dating back to the early 1600s, the property retains original features including exposed wooden beams and an unusual circular iron chandelier.

Due to government restrictions, The Bay Horse Inn is temporarily closed. The beer garden will reopen on 15 April for food and drink. lovely food and atmosphere. The only thing which let us down was that the restaurant was cold the central heating was not working and they provided a mobile heater but this did not really warm the restaurant.

The food quantity was unbalanced. Three of the starters were tiny, whereas the other was almost enough for a main course. Two of the mains were very large and the other two small and greasy! The Panacotta for the desert was not fully cooked but the frangipane was delicious.

Excellent food. Chocolate bread and butter and the perfectly cooked rib eye steak were the highlights but everything was to a very high standard and reasonably priced.

Excellent service and the food was amazing. We both tried the vegan burger and it was fantastic. Our server even gave us the make of the vegan cheese as it was so tasty. Would be great to know which vegan burger they use too! Felt very welcome and the inn has a lovely cosy feeling. Will definitely be back.

We stayed for 2 nights. Had a good breakfast each day. We also booked their lunch offer, which was great. They had lobster and chips on the special board for £22.95 which is good value so we also went for dinner! Had great food on all meals. The rooms were comfortable. Plenty of hand sanitiser in places. Would be good if the doors had cards to open as you need to hands to open the outside door but small thing. Wine a little pricy. Think I paid £9.50 for a large glass of Rioja. Overall very good.

We were only told that our booking had been made by a staff member 2.5 hours before the time we had booked. The waiter was chatting very loudly to other customers which made us feel somewhat uncomfortable as we didn’t feel he was being particularly discreet.
My food was very dry..the pork schnitzel! Otherwise portions generous .

Not a great menu for vegetarians especially Starters, if you don’t like Goat’s Cheese. Suggest making a soup that is suitable for vegetarians. We both had the Vegetable Presse for starter, which was cold, not very appetising with a small portion of salad and sourdough toast. For mains we both had the Katsu Curry, which was really tasty but was let down with the Jasmine Rice which was tasteless and a bit stodgy. Having said that the meals were well presented, we were both quite full and the serving staff were really nice.

The food is very good. Staff are helpful but a little disorganised. It’s a nice place but we were sat in a corner of an almost empty room - there are lovely tables outside but they were all taken. Good value for money and generous portions.

Spotlessly clean. Full covid measures in place. Staff were so warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was amazing. Good choice, well priced. All our food was freshly cooked and just cooked to perfection. Huge beer garden, dogs welcome. Fantastic. We would recommend this pub and will return again.

arrived early but table was ready, bit strange nothing on table because of virus restrictions but that was to be expected, clean ,one way system in place and felt safe, staff nice and polite and no waiting for food.

4 of us had a really nice meal at the Bay Horse.Service was good,though the waiter had to go and ask the chef about quite a few of the dishes,so a bit more pre service training was required.Barmaid could have been friendlier.
Quality of food was very good,though at full price, a bit on the high side,as were the prices of the drinks.
Overall a really good experience and we would probably go back.

Hi booked the offer for friends retirement event 8 people but informed could only use one voucher at a time so on this visit took my brother and sister in law for lunch with my husband. Our first meal out following Covid. The Bay Horse were organised with a one way system. We have been to Goldsborough Hall a number of times and had been informed the food of similar quality did not feel this was the case. The fish and chips was great large and delicious, but presentation not quite the same. The vegetarian in our party was very happy with the menu and food it was lovely.

Disappointed I could not use the two vouchers for friends event which is booked for November 25th but hoping the food is as good as it was last week on the 9th. The Bay Horse has tried very hard to ensure the safety of its customers and were very friendly everyone getting used to wearing masks.
