My pheasant was undercooked, although it was eventually replaced. Food rather disappointing overall.

The staff could be a bit more discreet when asking customers to provide vouchers or voucher codes... very embarrassing to be interrupted whilst eating for this information

We were welcomed and shown into the conservatory which was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The service was excellent and the food beautifully presented. WE had a very enjoyable afternoon and I would recommend it to anyone.

No one on reception on arrival. When some one did appear we were advised to take a seat in the library whilst he went to inform his colleague. On doing so you heard his colleague loudly bad mouthing us. This bad mouthing man then came to the library asking if he could help, then said the incorrect surname and barked we were late. He continually barked lunch finished at 1400, served from 1200 to 1400, and we were late. On purchasing the offer lunch was served 1200 to 1430, hence our 1430 booking by email. On showing the email to him he begrudgingly eventually apologised and said he would be speaking to the member of staff who made the booking. He said they had tried telephoning but someone had answered who wasn’t us but then this changed to the number they had was a digit missing, which he kept repeating, so they thought it was a hoax booking. Obviously the damage had already been done by the rude and unprofessional welcoming leaving us deflated and very unhappy but then on looking at the menu the type of food was not the same as we had in previous visits, nor what the online sample menu suggested, therefore we struggled on finding something. The party on the table next to us were complaining amongst themselves saying they were still hungry and generally were not happy with their dining experience. The appalling greeting obviously was not acceptable especially after we had received excellent service in previous visits, with James spending time with us due to my father attending Goldsborough Hall when it was a boarding school. This place was special to us with high standards but not anymore.
