The Fell Hotel, formerly the Devonshire Fell Hotel, is part of the Duke of Devonshire's 30,000-acre Bolton Abbey Estate. The property is in a "heart-tugging" location with "restful" guestrooms (The Daily Telegraph).
The hotel is in the quintessential North Yorkshire village of Burnsall. It was used as a location in the film "Calendar Girls". The hotel overlooks the Five Arch Bridge, which spans the River Wharfe.
Bolton Abbey is less than 20 minutes' drive from the hotel. It's home to the ruins of a 12th-century priory church. Walk through the Valley of Desolation and past Posforth Gill Falls for views from Simon's Seat.
Brimham Rocks, a National Trust site in the Nidderdale Natural Landscape, is around 30 minutes' drive. Or you could drive to the market town of Pateley Bridge and walk from there. The scenic route takes around an hour and a half.

All good apart from bringing me the wrong meal on 13 April and then brining the right meal but it was cold!!! Unfortunately although the waiter said he would take the cost of our main meal off our bill, it was covered by the £35 credit and nothing happened to recompense us. Otherwise all good.

Our room, which had a stunning view, needed quite a bit of TLC and a deep clean. After the first night, duvet cover was full of creases - didn't look great.

Toast never arrived at the first breakfast; orange juice missing at second breakfast. Waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed. Food was delicious. Disappointed to have to pay a service charge at checkout - maybe mention this in booking details.

Loved our room with its view of the Dales. The bed was comfortable and the room well equipped. We enjoyed our 2 night stay as the location is perfect if you want a relaxing break.

Unfortunately we did find the menu a bit odd. I chose the lamb but it tasted very strange and one person found their bowl of vegetables very odd tasting. There was nothing on the menu that really appealed. We did enjoy our desserts though. The service was friendly and there was a nice ambience . A great hotel if you're wanting to explore the Dales. The free parking voucher for visiting Bolton Abbey was very much appreciated. The walk by the River Wharfe is fantastic.

The hotel is beautiful and it is situated in the small village of Burnsall. The scenery around it in the Yorkshire Dales is outstanding. The food was lovely and it is has a good bar with lots of lovely seating areas around it overlooking the views of the scenery outside. It is a very impressive hotel.

We had a fabulous stay at the Devonshire Fell. Our room was gorgeous (Fell Suite). The staff were all welcoming and friendly nothing was too much trouble. We really enjoyed both the evening meal and the lovely breakfast. Perfect location for exploring Wharfedale. We will definitely return to this lovely hotel.

Lovely warm welcome, room was so nice with wooden beams, massive bed and a view of the fell. Breakfast was table service and was top quality. We had a dinner on the first night as part of our package and it was magnificent. The hotel wasn’t very busy so not many people were in the lounge area having drinks which suited us fine. You get free access to the Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa facilities. I would recommend that you take advantage of this as it is a wonderful spa.

The setting was breathtaking picture perfect.
Freezing weather but so toasty inside. Heating on constantly to keep the large rooms at a pleasant temperature.
Roaring log fire from very early morning to very late at night.
Stunning views from everywhere.
The staff wereeverything and more. Did everything possible to make your stay feel homely comfortable and special.
Dogs were welcome in every bedroom and every room and got their own doggy bag towel and bowl.
The food was cooked to order hot and you weren’t rushed at all.
Priced at the bar were really fair considering we were miles from anything without driving there.
Everything was quality with quirky touches.
From the moment you entered the Devonshire Fell you couldn’t have asked for more.

A very warm, welcoming hotel situated in the best scenery. Wharfedale is stunning. We enjoyed a very comfortable room with wonderful views of ghexriver and surroubding fells.
