Disappointed. Given an inferior room with noisy people above. Cold room, had to ask twice for heating. Asked for manager , never appeared. Bathroom ..... Shower was lukewarm. My room was similar to Travelodge. With the exception of junior restaurant manager, Eddie, staff functional not warm and welcoming. No way stay here again, Travelzoo need better vetting .

Lovely hotel. Not far from the park and ride to get into York city centre. The birds of prey were the icing on the cake! Thought we’d pop in for half an hour since we got free tickets but we were there ages. The staff there know their stuff and were very friendly and informative. Fully recommend.

The deal we paid for was excellent. On first appearances (the hotel looked a little bit like an old folks home) we thought we would struggle to be comfortable…oh how wrong we were Our stay from start to finish was excellent. The bird of prey facilities etc were the best I’ve experienced. The guy running it being an absolute font of intimate knowledge of all the beautiful and well cared for birds fortunate enough to be there. There was a bit of a disappointment with the afternoon tea, as it was part of the special deal, I am a coeliac and they were unable to offer me an alternative meal. I couldn’t understand this as the breakfast and dinners on offer had alternative gluten free meals on a separate menu. However, the staff couldn’t have done more (obviously apart from being unable to offer an alternative afternoon tea for me), they were attentive and pleasant and on the whole a great team. We all want a return for another visit.

The food at dinner wasn’t very good although the breakfast was, although fried eggs had to be ordered rather than being provided as a matter of course. The WiFi reception in our room was very hit and miss which may have been due to the fact that it was at the end of a very long corridor.

The stay was great value with the voucher. We had a good evening meal in addition on the first night. Breakfast was great. A lukewarm shower was the only downside.
