More Reasons to Go

  • Part of the Duke of Devonshire's 30,000-acre Bolton Abbey Estate, The Devonshire Fell is a 2-AA-Rosette, 4-Gold-Star property with a "heart-tugging" location and "restful" guestrooms (The Daily Telegraph).
  • Each of the 16 rooms is stylishly furnished, with amenities including complimentary Wi-Fi, tea- and coffee-making facilities, TVs, Bluetooth speakers, and Chatsworth Estate biscuits.
  • The property is in the quintessential North Yorkshire village of Burnsall, which was used as a location in the film "Calendar Girls" and is full of quaint stone buildings. The hotel overlooks the Five Arch Bridge, which spans the River Wharfe.
  • Bolton Abbey is less than 20 minutes' drive from the hotel, and is home to the ruins of a 12th-century priory church. You can walk through the evocatively named Valley of Desolation and past Posforth Gill Falls to take in impressive views from Simon's Seat.
  • Brimham Rocks, a National Trust site of spectacular natural rock formations in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is around 30 minutes' drive away. Or you could drive to the market town of Pateley Bridge and walk from there—the scenic route takes around an hour and a half.
*A 5% mandatory service levy is added to all dining accounts on departure, 100% of this charge is distributed to the Devonshire Fell's staff.

Fabulous location with beautiful view from our river view room. Friendly, professional service from all staff. Dog friendly, eating in conservatory and they provided a towel, dog bowl, treats and toy for our dog too. Dinner was excellent; crab & smoked salmon salad, stone bass main. Breakfast equally good and freshly cooked.

Only thing that could be improved was the duvet was too highly togged for us, so we kept overheating and waking up.

The staff were absolutely brilliant, from the moment we checked in until we left all of them were so helpful and polite - brilliant Our room faced the Fell and the view was superb, like a picture post card. It was immaculate and had everything we needed. The food in the restaurant was really good with plenty of choice, our "deal allowance" didn't cover the total cost but for what we had it was excellent and good value. Breakfast was also very good. The hotel is in large grounds and the maintenance was exceptional, beautifully manicured topiary and lawns and just great attention to detail. Overall a great deal and we would definitely go there again.
