The Royal Oak Hotel is a stone-built former coaching inn. The AA praises the "very comfortable bedrooms" at this "elegant" property.
Dining options include the Grill Room, the Lounge, and the more formal Llugwy River Restaurant.
Guests can use the leisure facilities at the hotel's sister property, Waterloo Hotel & Lodge. It's five minutes' walk away from The Royal Oak. These include an indoor pool, a gym, a Jacuzzi, a steam room, and a sauna.

A lovely hotel in a great location. Rooms facing the road do suffer road noise but not a big issue for us. Staff helpful and the food both breakfast and evening meal was very good

The Royal Oak is in a great location in Betws-y-Coed, which is a useful place to explore Snowdonia by public transport. As a lone diner, I found the more casual Y Stablau to provide a comfortable experience than the more formal restaurant. The pub was suitably lively in the early evening. Everything else about the hotel was good, right the way from easy check in to easy check out.

No cold water supply to bath and shower. Room too hot despite radiators being turned off. Strong cooking smells and noise from extractors if window was opened.
Staff did their best to correct the water problem but it took time to sort out and we had to change our plans for the day. When leaving the assistant manager asked if we had enjoyed our stay. We reminded her of the plumbing issue and asked if the hotel would recognise the inconvenience we had had. She replied that she could do nothing as we had booked through Travelzoo.

Very clean and tidy. Lovely staff, we had a superior room which was a big room and worth the upgrade. It was just an impressive hotel in a great location. Ideal for walking. Breakfasts were filling and very tasty. We had complimentary use of the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym at the nearby Waterloo Hotel. That was an added bonus as thay are great facilities.

the public rooms were very nice but the other parts were a bit dated as was our room except we had a very nice modern walk in shower room.several rooms on our floor (so maybe ours would be next). were being renovated at the same time so it had a bit of a building site feel to it.
