More Reasons to Go

  • The Boathouse is within the boundaries of the Broads National Park. It overlooks "the watery wilderness of Ormesby Broad—a haven of tranquillity all year round" (The Daily Telegraph).
  • The building was renovated from an old country tavern. Downstairs has a relaxed feel with mismatched furniture and an open fire. You'll also find a mural that pays homage to the pub's history. Upstairs houses the contemporary Double rooms with a subtle nautical theme.
  • Wroxham, considered the capital of the Norfolk Broads, is a 25-minute drive away. From there, you can take to the water on a Broads ferry tour. You can also hire a motorboat or charter a yacht.
  • Winterton-on-Sea is 10 minutes' drive from the property. Stroll along the long sandy beaches that northeast Norfolk is known for. In winter, look out for the seal colonies that come to rest on the shore.
  • Norwich is around 30 minutes' drive away. Lonely Planet praises the city for its "magnificent cathedral", "impressive Norman castle", and "thriving markets".
*Room options include the Captain's Cabin, Cheeky Teak, Broads View, or Treasure of the Broads (subject to availability).

**Note: to be used on second night if arriving Monday. The property does not serve food after breakfast on Mondays.

My husband & I just went for a 2 night break as we liked the look of the hotel & the location. The staff were all lovely - nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent & we ate there both evenings. We had the Captains Cabin room which was very large & at the top of the hotel so the view over the broads was lovely. The weather was a bit chilly but stayed dry, we found it was so relaxing to just be so close to nature. We returned refreshed after our very relaxing break.

As you can see, we could not fault anything. The room was really well decorated, bed very comfortable, en-suite bathroom was large (including the bath), which was very relaxing.
Other Comments
The staff were all excellent, the food in restaurant was very good, the breakfast was of a high standard (apart from the tea served in a large teapot at the buffet table - which was very weak)
