The atmosphere in the restaurant was a bit bare, it lacked intimacy and warmth.
The choice of meals could be slightly better, especially considering vegetarian or vegan.
However, it was a wonderful experience and great value for money.

Starter and dessert had the wow factor but the main courses were lacking. English sparkling wine was nice. Choice is from three dishes for each of the three courses. Not quite up to the standard of its previous incarnation as the Park Terrace restaurant. But not bad Bread is charged extra, there is a 12.5% service charge and the deal is an extra £5 per head if taken as dinner. Main course needs to be better.

We have been to this restaurant often in the past but this was a strange evening. The restaurant was almost empty so there was little atmosphere - apparently they were short staffed so didn't take bookings from guests. Food was delicious but some portions were small and the fish was tepid. Bread used to be provided but now is an extra cost. Inflation no doubt. the deal should state sparkling wine or a nonalcoholic alternative as we had to pay for soft drinks for two non drinkers.

We were a group of six. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed each of their three courses. Perhaps the only slight criticism is that there was quite a long wait between courses. It didn't bother us but can imagine it might annoy some people.

In late 2022 Royal Garden Hotel relaunched its’ signature restaurant which is now Origin Kensington, which has a fresh modern look to it, so even though we’re been to the previous restaurant before, this was our first outing under the Origin Kensington brand.
The evening started off with a chilled glass of English sparkling wine and the extensive menu is British with a few international twists offering plenty of choice.
My husband and I started off with the Orchard Farm free range braised pork belly, Bramley apple compote, crispy skin.
I then had the Brixham monkfish, scotch lobster bisque, rouille,with wilted Molyneux kale and my husband had the Norfolk chicken breast, confit thigh, sesame, Spring carrots, potato terrine which was absolutely devine. The monkfish dish is a little sparse but succulent. Our favourite dish of the evening was the chicken dish which was cooked to perfection, plentiful and well presented. Most definitely our favourite of the evening. Washed down with a bottle of Albariño.
We finished off with the Origin signature English custard tart with elderflower crème fraiche and Banoffee cheesecake, gingernut biscuit respectively.
Delightful service and an enjoyable evening. Would definitely return.

I took my Mother as a Mother’s Day treat. The staff was attentive and no long waits in between meals. The complimentary sparkling wine was also nice. The menu was varied and well cooked.

There was insufficient food and we are not new to fine dine. My son wanted a steak and had looked forward to it. He asked for a fillet and they said they had none left (it was 6.30 on a Saturday night) and so he asked for the other option - a rib eye and they said they had none left again. So no steaks. We were also offered no bread. I paid just short of £200 and we were all hungry when we left.

Overall, the experience was great, we used to go to the same place when it was Park Terrace restaurant and we loved the food and atmosphere. Origin is beautifully decorated, with darker walls and more informal.
My favourite dish of thr night was my dessert the lemongrass creme brulee with rhubarb. Tasty and artfully presented.
My main was small portion, I ordered the monkfish, it was nice but lacking in flavour and a tad salty, the chips too which didn't come with the main dish. All sides are separate. Something my friends and I missed of Park Terrace. I would go back there, but perhaps try the Asian dishes instead.
