£49 – Michelin-starred The Goring: 3 courses & champagne

The service was impeccable. Staff were attentive and service was excellent. Afternoon tea was amazing . Enough sandwiches, cakes and tea was always topped up .

We felt as if we were being treated as second class diners

We celebrated my husband’s birthday at The Goring. Had drinks in the bar which was very atmospheric as was the surrounding area. Thought the decor in The Dining Room was underwhelming. Lighting a little strange. Having said that the menu choice was excellent. Food superb. Great wine choice. Staff friendly and informative. A truly wonderful lunch. We will definitely be back.

A lovely experience in a very warm & embracing environment, wonderful staff & good choice of food. The only disappointment was that my name was missing from list although a telephone booking was made weeks in advance, and even though I produced the Travelzoo coupon was on arrival, staff, although being re-assuring & supportive continued enquring about the actual booking. This was very off- putting, particularly as this was my first visit, which raised issues of the effectiveness of your booking system. However, this would not deter me from returning! Hopfully, it was a 'one off!'

Excellent. Although I would have liked a little soft music in tbe background during lunch...but thats just my opinion. Otherwise amazing experience.

Superb in every way

My favourite restaurant for a lunch 'experience' with friends.

Booking was easy and straightforward. I mentioned that I was vegetarian and was handed a vegetarian menu when I sat down The food was very, very good and the service was the best I have experienced.

It is just a wonderful place and I highly recommend it

Very classy hotel

This is a small hotel with an intimate atmosphere. Excellent staff and food. Shame though they serve the house champagne in a wine glass- it affects the bubbles and yet for afternoon tea the correct glasses are used!!

We enjoyed the ambience of the hotel and staff were attentive. There were 4 adults in our party an we all felt the meal was very expensive for the set menu choice.

The public areas on the Ground floor, including the cloakrooms have been decorated in an individual but beautiful style. This is an elegant and perfect example of British style at its best with staff to match.

We had heard of the Goring but never visited till my dad booked us a dinner for our wedding anniversary. We are so glad he picked here. The history of the hotel is fascinating and I hope it stays in the family hands for many generations to come. The hotel itself is beautiful and looks new despite being over 100 year old. From the moment you come through the door you know you are somewhere special. The staff are all friendly and well trained. Everyone we interacted with smiled and made you feel at ease. We had fun chatting with the sommelier about the bore of those doing dry January and the amazing cellars of champagne Thienot. The restaurant is well designed though personally I am not a fan of the modern ceiling light fixtures. The food is British with a twist and was delicious and well presented. We enjoyed all the courses and each plate went back licked clean. The portion sizes were sensible and we were satisfied by the end of the meal. I was surprised the staff did not list the ingredients in each dish as is the norm in most Michelin restaurants but I am sure we could have asked. If you a man please make sure you visit the gents and read the letter on the right wall of the urinals and peruse the artwork. Overall we had an amazing night and will definitely be back for the spring menu.

Food was delicious

When we arrived there was nothing vegetarian on the menu so they gave me another menu. There was a lovely selection of vegetarian food & I enjoyed my food. However nobody mentioned that this was significantly more expensive! Then they tried to charge us for 2 extra glasses of champagne. kids enjoyed chicken & chips & shared a pudding, we had 2 soft drinks & received a bill for over £160 in addition to vouchers so very expensive!!
