"Very welcoming staff. House was amazing and good audio guide. The kitchen garden is really inspiring. I want to go back and see the gardens in Spring."
Chiswick House is a Palladian villa designed by the third Earl of Burlington. It was inspired by his love of Italy and the 16th-century country houses built by Andrea Palladio in the Veneto.
The 65-acre gardens were originally laid out by William Kent and are a very early example of an English landscape garden; it features a cascade, follies, statues and monuments, sweeping vistas, and a 19th-century conservatory.

The gardens are worth seeing and are free to enter. The house is really just the villa (not the whole house) but it is very interesting with good interpretation and and a good audio guide. However our visit was a bit rushed as the house was due to close at 12:30 for a wedding.

We had to pay extra to enter the kitchen garden, which seems to be a separate entity. We had lunch at the cafeteria, which was good and reasonable value.

At £5 it BC was good value but if I paid £11.50 full price I would have considered myself over charged

Went for a lovely afternoon. Went to the cafe first for cake/tea which was really nice. Followed up with a walk on the gardens and visited the kitchen garden where we could make our own teabags from the selection of leaves growing. Visited the house next which was nice. Beautiful place - plan to go back with family and have a picnic by the beautiful lake

We only had time to visit the house and walk from Burlington Road entrance along the lake. House smaller than anticipated but very impressive Palladian building. Also, the market was an added bonus.

Excellent guided tour round a really interesting Palladian villa. Bags of bling! Beautiful and very extensive gardens and grounds. Good coffee and reasonably priced lunch in the pleasant café though disappointed the breakfast menu wasn't available after 11.30.

Well worth visiting, especially if you are local, but the house and the kitchen garden especially is slightly underwhelming. The best part are the public gardens, which are free anyway.

We really enjoyed it, from booking online which was easy to arriving to lovely, friendly and informative reception staff. The audio guide is brill. House is small so doesn't take hours to get round and the kitchen garden with meditation guide is a real step away from real life. Highly recommend!

We were in time for a free guided tour rather than the audio guide but we could have gone round again under our own steam.
Disappointed conservatory was closed for restoration. Kitchen garden a bit dull - wrong time of year I think.
Deal was good value, including hot drink effectively half price.

Due to a family emergency we ran an hour late for our timed entry. We emailed as instructed. Reply was swift, taking the pressure off us. All staff were very friendly-from the lady instructing us how to use the free audio unit, the shop assistant making sure we didn’t miss anything and the young lady answering all our questions about the portraits. We will definitely return

Waited for 12.00 for the tour of the house but found out it had started 10 mins early. Very confusing messages from the staff about the start time which is normally 11.00. Suggest that the guide starts at the advertised time in future.

I expected the House to be a lot bigger, not much in Chiswick House building the history of the place was very interesting. the gardens & lakes were beautiful. The coffee was very good. They sold plants and flowers, too expensive, they need to have more products at a cheaper rate

The house but we were not told when we arrived for our 2.30 booking that the garden closed at 4pm. If it was so tight how come we were able to schedule our booking for 2.30 in the house in the first place? we assumed thst after the house we'd automatically go in the garden. But to get to the gardne we needed to get to the ocnservatory and wlak through. The lady at entrance tosl us to ask the lady in the shop at the end of the house tour to ask about the garden, but when we handed in our handsets the lady in the shop was busy and noone told us to hurry up too get to the conservatory that must have closed slightly before 4pm?
Other Comments
The house was small but fine, but we missed the garden completely that was part of the ticket. We had difficulty getting our hot drink that would have been easier if I had not paid for it in advance and would have allowed us to get to get to the garden before it shut. To market this offer properly it should be made clear to go to the house before 2pm to allow time for the garden and free hot drink afterwards. We spent an hour in the house and could have been longer if we listened to all the recorded podcasts! Then we were 10 minutes in the shop. we would not have spent that time if we knew we had to get to the conservatory in a rush!

Bit tricky to find. Would be good to know it is on the Heathrow direction on the A4 dual carriageway as having used the SatNav we searched on the other side!
The car parking machine was a nightmare. Several other people were having trouble too and gave up. We persevered and after 20 minutes managed it. Very annoying!

Beautiful oasis in the middle of Chiswick. Large parkland area for walking (including dog walking) and picnicking plus more formal gardens. The house itself is fairly small with an interesting history.
There is a very good cafe in the grounds.
