Why We Love It

  • The tour includes colourful stories and secrets of the 1599 Globe, the reconstruction process in the 1990s, and how the building now works as an imaginative theatre space
  • "Shakespeare's Globe was designed to resemble the original Globe as closely as possible, from the materials used in construction to the open-air stage that exposes viewers to London's changeable skies" — Lonely Planet
  • It is popular with Travelzoo members97% of those who reviewed the theatre on a previous visit said they loved it

very difficult to book. Lots of confusion and not added to the list for the session but I had an email confirming my booking so they let us in. The tour was well narrated and the venue is very interesting.

The limited amount we could see and hear.
Other Comments
Not really a tour, more sitting in different places and someone talking to you. We expected to see seating area's, the stage and behind the scenes and maybe some of the construction. Before entering the theatre we could hardly hear the guide because of the loud music coming from their own pub (11am) then when inside, guide had to speak quietly because rehearsals were going on. Not good value.

My husband and I planned our visit for approx 1:30 but were told we could not go on the tour as there was a play in progress. We had done all the sightseeing we wanted all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning, and had lunch, so the tour was the last thing we had planned before leaving London. We had to wait until 16:00 for the next tour. On buying this deal from Travelzoo, it was clearly stated on the info 'no booking required'. Consequently, we had to waste just over two hours wandering around. Pity we had already had our lunch!!! The tour was fairly interesting and the guide was very animated, which made the tour much more worthwhile. It wasn't worth any more than the £11:00 for the two of us though. Not sure I would recommend it.
