The restored Carnforth Station Heritage Centre was the setting for "Brief Encounter". Enjoy steam train rides aboard the Ribble Steam Railway. Both are within 30 minutes' drive from the hotel.
The hotel is 10 minutes by car from the city's historic castle and Roman fort. The reception has a cosy log fire. Guestrooms are spacious and equipped with modern amenities.

Lancaster is home to fascinating historic sights and independent shops. Stroll along the River Lune, which is lined with fine Georgian architecture.
The Crook o' Lune (a horseshoe bend in the river Lune) is a very picturesque spot, immortalised in JMW Turner's painting. It is 15 minutes' drive away in the Forest of Bowland. There are riverside trails to explore with views of the surrounding valley.

It is a bonus to find a hotel of this standard so convenient to the M6 motorway.
All members of staff that we met were friendly and welcoming.
The room was comfortable and the breakfast exceptional. No dried up food here where all the hot food was made to order.
If I could give this hotel 6 stars I would.

A fantastic experience from start to finish. Sree on reception was excellent, friendly, welcoming and very professional. All staff were a credit to the hotel. We had a beautiful meal on both nights of our stay and the breakfast was superb.

Attended a party during the day and instead of dashing home decided to have a hotel stay. Dinner lovely in bar restaurant but despite being In quiet zone other guests very noisy at 1.50 in the morning overslept so didn’t get to the pool for a swim before breakfast. Ladies rugby team spoiled the atmosphere at breakfast very loud. Breakfast good but a little dry as if it had been kept warm for a while

Sunday roast ended at 4 pm, however this was not mentioned on any of the menus for Sunday specials. The specials list and the specials menu on the bar were still up all evening ,even though the food was not available from 4 pm. I ordered chicken nuggets when they came, I had to send them back as they were inedible. They were soggy, full of grease and cold. The bedrooms were a little dated we had to complain that there was no heating in our bathroom. When it was cleaned after the first night they did not replace our dirty glasses, refill the free water or replace the tea and coffee.

Booking procedure was very easy, we chose to stay on a Monday so it was very quiet. Easy to find, plenty of parking (free with this deal). All members of staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 75, location was fine and it was very quiet. The room was a bit dated but very clean, some rooms are currently being refurbished. Lovely large, comfy bed. We ate in the main restaurant which has a tapas style menu, the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Breakfast was also very good with plenty of choice. The gym facilities for a hotel were excellent, plenty of cardio equipment and weight machines all in working order. The pool and spa was also fantastic. Would definitely go again.

We have been to the Lancaster House hotel numerous times and it never disappoints, plenty of parking, great staff, excellent food choices, good size well serviced rooms and great spa facilities.

The only complaint I would have with this visit was the room allocation, we were given room 2 which is a disabled room, we are not disabled people and we didn’t appreciate the view of the fire escape but to be honest we didn’t complain because we were only staying for one night.

Overnight at the end of a short break in the Lakes. Public areas are sumptuous, rooms less so. Location is great for a quick revisit to Lancaster university where we were based 50 years ago. Breakfast did not meet the standards of sister venue, the Wild Boar, where we had stayed a few days earlier, especially as the cooked breakfast bordered on cold. The restaurant itself lacks atmosphere.

Nice hotel, hampered only by the location which is not within walking distance of Lancaster. Reception and rooms are good as is the pool and gym. The evening meals are good quality but perhaps a little on the expensive side. Breakfasts need improving. The food gave the impression it was kept warm rather than cooked from scratch.
