We arrived at 12 noon so took advantage of soup and bread by the welcome open fire in the bar area. We then enjoyed an invigorating walk all around your private woodland, which was very enjoyable.

I think you could offer a couple more light lunch options. After our journey to The Wild Boar, we were looking forward to a nice crusty sandwich in the bar so a little disappointed to see that the lunch menu was more substantial than we required, given that we were dining with you later that evening. Luckily the soup was a favour we both liked but if it hadn't been, we would have had to go elsewhere (in the car). Maybe a couple of sandwich choices would go down well? That said, we enjoyed all our meals. Good quality produce.

Excellent choice for a pre Xmas break . From the initial warm welcome the service was impeccable . The staff were so polite & helpful . The accommodation comfortable & the rest of the guest areas exactly what we were looking for , original flag floors , low beamed ceilings , roaring open fires . The food in the restaurant was both plentiful , well served & absolutely delicious . Again service in the restaurant was above the standard expected due to the brilliant staff .

Enjoyable weekend only problem was there are a lot of steep stairs due to the ‘pub’ are being an old building built into the rock face.

The menu does not change so it would be good to include a salad / simpler dish for those who don’t want steak every night, no matter how good they are

We had a two night stay in November. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night
The food was excellent. A little pricey but this was justified by the quality. Breakfast was the usual option of a cold buffet with a huge selection and hot breakfasts ordered and served at the table. All very delicious and the Wild Boar full breakfast was huge. Our room (Foxes Den) was a good size with a smart modern en-suite and a particularly good shower.

The surroundings were lovely… the bar area is very nice with an amazing fire… it felt like a halfway house between a pub and hotel but neither one nor the other…

We arrived at 2.30 from Manchester and the restaurant couldn’t accommodate us for dinner until 7.45… much later than we would eat but the reception said it was busy so fair enough. We asked for a light meal such as a cheeseboard with some bread and nibbles to put us on… the chef said this was only available in the evening… so we wee offered some olives and pork scratching… when we can down for dinner early at 7.15 the restaurant was empty.. so we were able to eat earlier and probably even earlier than we arrived. The meal was ok but the chips tasted as though they had been warmed up.. over all we were disappointed that the staff didn’t attempt to accommodate us.

Fortunately we are relatively mobile octogenarians so the location of our room some distance from reception with stairs to climb was not a problem. Perhaps Wild Boar could ascertain the level of mobility for their older guests to enable suitably located rooms to be allocated.

Excellent Travelzoo promotion which made this a really great deal in this lovely setting.. The whole experience was very good and we would recommend a visit. The wild boar even had a signed woodland walk and brews its own beer in the visible brew house. Their own smoked salmon is delicious and the full Wild Boar breakfast is as good as it gets. We will return.
