Where to check in was confusing upon arrival - exactly how to get to the reception from the rear car park. The room was great if not looking a little tired and in need of a fresh lick of paint/decor. My only complaint is the walls are paper thin so you can hear everybody walking past along the corridor - even when they are talking in a regular volume. The food was very good though and staff very friendly and helpful.

Loved the old part of the hotel…bar, restaurant etc., but was a bit disappointed with the room. Not the quaint, cosy room I was expecting, but nice nonetheless albeit very noisy from the room above and outside corridor. Great bathroom!
Dinner and breakfast were outstanding as were the staff. We’ll be back!!

Excellent alternative afternoon tea and breakfast. The bat and restaurant was really nice with the real fires and friendly atmosphere and staff, but the rooms are upstairs area could do with renovation.

Breakfast was very disappointing, bacon was inedible as it was beyond crispy (burnt) but everything was cold, plate cold and all food on it! Worse thing ever though is freezing cold poached eggs! Evening meal was not much warmer to be honest. Contacted the manager to be told “don’t worry that (the bad one!) Chef wasn’t in tomorrow” strange answer? Next day food was personally delivered by the manager which meant to us that she didn’t trust the new chef either? Bed was much too hard and we didn’t sleep for two nights. Unfortunately we will not be back. Disappointed.

Our room was at the end of the hotel. It was smaller and plainer than any in the photos, it seemed like a budget room used for travel zoo customers. It was fine for what we wanted. The bathroom containers, although pretty, didn’t work, the push lever didn’t bounce back so we had to undo the top.
Because it’s away from the town, it’s really quiet, only the sound of an owl in the night.
Breakfast was nicely set out and the hot breakfast was well cooked and presented. There were no selection of nuts and seeds with the fruit and cereal.
